Lavender originates from the verb “lavare” which means to wash. Its words origin holds true in how we use lavender in soaps and body washes today. Even the Egyptians used lavender’s soothing scent to embalm and give the mummies a sweet-smelling aroma.

The Greeks used this purple flower to nurse a headache and heal a sore throat. Lavender comes from the mint family and can only be grown from a cut not from seeds with over 45 species and 450 varieties to date.
