Aroma: A bright, warming scent of calming jasmine, floral lily and sweet peach. Tiger Blossoms has a fresh and joyful fragrance, bringing a smile to anyone’s face.

Teatime: Tiger Blossom is best enjoyed after dinner. A very light end to a big meal. This tea is 100% caffeine-free. A teaspoon of honey is a great addition to this tea blend.

Brewing instructions: 1 Tiger Blossom Bud per 2-3 cups of tea.  

Infusion time: We recommend using a glass teapot, adding one Tiger Blossom bud for one pot of tea and letting it brew for around 3-6 minutes.  Watch your little bud pop open and fill your boiling water with blossom and flavour.

Colour: A very light hue of yellow

Blooming tea, a phenomenon originating from China is a special tea where a combination of tea leaves and flower blooms have been tightly stitched together to create one bud of tea. This tea, when steeped in boiling water, unfurls to expose its beauty and flavours.

Lilies, Marigolds, jasmine and Osmanthus blooms are widely used for these teas as they don’t give off much colour, letting you appreciate the bloom in its full glory rather than in a mist of coloured darkness. The history of blooming tea is unknown, some believe it is a modern creation but others trace it back to the 10^th century in royal Chinese courts.

The art of shaping and displaying teas during this time may have begun and the tea would be used as more of a decorative piece and not drank, showing wealth and status to a home. Each blooming bud is gently handmade by encasing a delicate flower in dried green tea leaves, using a thin piece of cotton to tie up the flavoursome bud, and then it is wrapped in a muslin cloth to be dried into shape.
