Did you know? English breakfast tea, a tea most of England has somewhere hiding in their cupboards, drank not just at breakfast but throughout the day. Don’t be deceived by its name as it wasn’t created in England at all. A Scottish tea master created tea in the 19th century. Robert Drysdale wanted to create a stronger morning tea to complement a full English breakfast so came up with a blend of Ceylon and Assam tea. This was introduced to Queen Victoria on one of her visits to Balmoral. The new tea mix was a hit and she named it English breakfast tea, taking it back with her to England.
