Assam Tea

Origin: India

Teatime: Assam Tea is a very versatile tea which can be enjoyed any time of the day.

Aroma: A strong earthy aroma with a slight hint of citrus orange.

Brewing time: We recommend this tea to be brewed for 3-5 minutes. The longer the brew the stronger and more bitter the taste.

Colour: Dark rich brown

Did you know? Assam tea named after its tropical origin was discovered by a Scottish adventurer Robert Bruce. He noticed a tea-like plant growing wild near Rangpur and being on a trade mission got the plant tested in botanical gardens, discovering it was a type of tea leaf. By 1839, the country’s first tea-growing company had been established, which then led to India’s industry exploding onto the scene as Assam tea became very popular. More than 100 years later, when India obtained its independence from British rule in 1947; Assam, as well as other tea-growing regions continued to boom. Today, Assam teas have retained their significance within the worldwide tea industry and now contribute around 55% of India’s overall tea exports!
